Board Meeting Tonight Apr 24

There will be a school board meeting tonight at 7pm at the Spellman Education Building, 782 Springdale Drive, Exton PA.

Some topics of interest that will be covered in tonight’s meeting are:

  • 28 items are Consent Agenda, which means it is a foregone conclusion that these 28 issues/items will pass with full board support.

  • Consent Agenda items get discussed earlier in the month during committee meetings (prior to the monthly board meeting). If you want to have input on Consent Agenda items, then consider attending committee meetings where you will have the opportunity to make public comment before the board has decided to approve agenda items.

  • Page 2, Pupil Services, item 1. Approval of one (1) Special Education Settlement Agreement. No dollar value is attached to this. This shows a lack of fiscal accountability on the part of the district.

  • Page 2, Pupil Services, item 2. Approval of Sweet, Stevens, Katz, & Williams, LLC Legal Services Consultation Agreement. No dollar value is attached to this, nor are the details of the agreement. This shows a lack of transparency and a lack of fiscal accountability on the part of the district.

  • Page 2, Property & Finance, item 9. The board will approve the 2023-24 budget of over $300,000,000. (Exact figure cannot be located amongst the 172 pages of the agenda. This is a problem. This information should be quickly and easily identified, and the fact that it is not shows a lack of transparency and a lack of fiscal accountability on the part of the district.)

  • Page 64. A number of items were pulled from committee (meaning that they are NOT part of the consent agenda) earlier this month. These items will be discussed in more detail at next month's policy review committee meeting.

  • Page 121-169. Lots of budget info here!

  • Page 172. Payment of $600,000 in settlement to a contractor.
