Back to Basics is pleased to introduce readers to our school board candidates for Region 2, Peggy Schmitt and Amanda Greenberg!
Peggy is a graduate of the Temple University School of Dentistry and has been practicing general dentistry in Delaware for the last 30+ years. She has repeatedly been voted Top Dentist by Delaware Today Magazine. Peggy is also a published author, with her work cited in multiple journals for dental professionals. Peggy holds the record for the most votes received by a Libertarian candidate in the state of Delaware! She ran for US Congress in 1992, and ran for the Delaware State House in 1996. Peggy is a mom to two high school aged daughters, she is a novice beekeeper, and an active volunteer for cat rescue. As a registered Libertarian, Peggy will bring a unique and much needed alternative perspective to the school board if elected.
Amanda has a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a focus on Exercise Science from Arizona State University and a dual master’s degree in Elementary Education and Special Education from La Salle University. She has worked in public education as a special education teacher and an elementary classroom teacher at one of the top rated school districts in the Philadelphia area. Born and raised in Arizona, Amanda has a love for the outdoors and gets outside as much as possible with her husband, their three children, and their two rescue dogs. Amanda is passionate about passing down her family’s cultural heritage to her children: Amanda is both Mexican and Jewish and is honored to be able to bring the Mexican culture of her childhood to Pennsylvania, while also immersing her children in the culture, traditions and teachings of Judaism.
If you live in Region 2, you will have the opportunity to vote for Amanda and Peggy on May 16.
